Fernando Maria de Benedictis obtained his Medical Licence at University of Perugia, Italy, in 1974, and had his training at the Paediatric Department of this University, where he obtained the specialization in Paediatrics. From 1985 to 1986 he was a Fellow at the Chest Division, the Hospital for Sick Children of Toronto and obtained the Licence of the Medical Council of Canada.
He was a staff physician at the Division of Paediatrics, and then Chief of the Paediatric Pulmonology Unit at Perugia General Hospital until 2000.
From 2001 to 2014 he was Director of the Division of Paediatrics at Salesi Children’s Hospital, Ancona, Italy.
He was a teaching professor of Paediatric Pulmonology at the University of Perugia, Ancona, L’Aquila, Verona and Roma, and served as a paediatric member of EMA-AIFA.
He was the President of the Italian Paediatric Respiratory Society and is a gold member of the European Respiratory Society.
Over the years, his research interests have been focused on the study of paediatric respiratory diseases, especially asthma. He is the author of more than 400 original articles, review papers, editorials, and book chapters. He is a reviewer of the most important journals in the field of paediatric pulmonology and has been invited as a speaker or chairman in more than 200 international congresses over the world.
Medicine is a hobby for him, but he has two great passions: the family and Juventus Football Club.
