He is the Director of Research in Pulmonary Medicine, Director of the Center for Pulmonary Imaging Research and Co-Director of the Cincinnati Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Center. Dr Woods received his Ph.D. in physics from Washington University, and after a Fellowship in Radiology and Pulmonary Medicine, his early career was split between faculty and university administration at Washington University before moving to Cincinnati in 2013. His research career has been focused on translational imaging with CT and hyperpolarized-gas MRI, outcomes improvement, and clinical trials in both obstructive and restrictive lung diseases in pediatrics and adults, with emphasis on multidisciplinarity, interventions, and imaging in neonatal populations like those born prematurely. Dr Woods has a longstanding interest in rapid clinical translation of research, particularly as it relates to early neonatal disease detection, obstructive pathophysiology, and testing of new therapeutics.
