Prof Julie Marchant is a clinician-researcher at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and the Centre for Children’s Health Research, Brisbane, Queensland. Her PhD studies were critical in the building of the clinical definition of protracted bacterial bronchitis (PBB) in children which now forms part of the Australian, European, and North American guidelines for managing chronic cough in children. Her ongoing research interests are childhood chronic wet cough, with particular focus on protracted bacterial bronchitis and bronchiectasis in children. This research aims to provide critical evidence for the management of chronic wet cough in early childhood to lead to improved health outcomes through early intervention.
