BIOGRAPHY

Dr Rebecca Nantanda is a Paediatrician, Senior Research Scientist and Director of Research, Innovation and Training at Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI), College of Health Sciences, Makerere University. She is also involved in training and supervising research projects for graduate students at Makerere University. Rebecca is the Uganda Ambassador for the INSPiRED congress, a founding member and co-chair of the Childhood Pneumonia Working Group the International Union against TB and Lung Diseases (The Union) and leader of the Air Quality, Occupation Health and Environment research group at MLI. She is a fellow of the UK MRC/FCDO Africa Research Leaders and a founding fellow of the East, Central & Southern Africa College of Paediatrics and Child Health (ECSAPACH).  Her research focuses on child and adolescent lung health including asthma, pneumonia, post-TB lung disease and related risk factors including air pollution, in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) and has several publications in these areas. She is clinically active and mentor of upcoming researchers.
