Hettie Janssens, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and consultant paediatric pulmonologist at Erasmus Medical Center-Sophia Children’s Hospital (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and Director of the Erasmus MC–Sophia Cystic Fibrosis Center.
Dr Janssens completed her PhD on “Aerosol therapy in young children” and has longstanding expertise in inhaled drug delivery, inhalation technique, and optimizing aerosol therapy throughout childhood, including in asthma and cystic fibrosis. She has led and contributed to multiple national and international research programs on aerosol treatment, adherence, smart nebulizer technology, inhaled antibiotics, and early CF lung disease. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including papers on inhaled therapies, clinical guidelines, and book chapters.
She is actively involved in teaching and hands-on training in inhalation therapy for medical students and healthcare professionals. She serves on several scientific and guideline committees in paediatric pulmonology and is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society Clinical Trial Network (ECFS-CTN)
