BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Terry L. Noah received his B.A. and M.D. from the University of Michigan, then completed residency training in Pediatrics at Yale and the University of North Carolina, followed by fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at UNC. He has been a member of the faculty at UNC since 1991, serving for many years as Pediatric Pulmonology Division Chief, and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics. Career honors have included membership in the Society for Pediatric Research and in the American Pediatric Society. Dr. Noah’s research focus has been on translational studies of the effects of air pollutants on mucosal host defense and viral infection in the respiratory tract. He has also published on a number of clinical and translational topics related to chronic lung diseases of children, and on pediatric subspecialty workforce issues. He has served as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple NIH study sections and as a mentor for numerous graduate students, fellows, and junior faculty. Dr. Noah is currently the Jacob A. Lohr Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics at UNC, investigator in the UNC Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology, Deputy Editor for the journal Pediatric Pulmonology, and the APS representative on the American Board of Pediatrics Board of Directors.
