BIOGRAPHY

Professor Giovanni Volpicelli is Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences and Director of the Residency Program in Emergency Medicine at the School of Medicine, Magna Graecia University, Catanzaro, Italy. He is also Head of the Emergency Medicine Unit at the “Renato Dulbecco” University Hospital in Catanzaro. He has served as Chair of the Scientific Committee for the 1st International Consensus Conference on Lung Ultrasound, is a member of the Scientific Committee for the 2nd International Consensus Conference on Ultrasound in Trauma, and a Board Member of the 1st International Consensus Conference on Ultrasound in Medical Education.
Professor Volpicelli has served as Editor-in-Chief of The Ultrasound Journal (Springer) for more than 10 years, is Academic Editor of Medicine (Lippincott), and Associate Editor of European Respiratory Journal Educational (European Respiratory Society). He is a member of the editorial board and an international reviewer for numerous prestigious journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Chest, Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care, Anesthesiology, and the American Journal of Emergency Medicine. He is also a scientific reviewer for MORE (McMaster Online Rating of Evidence) at McMaster University, Health Information Research Unit, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is the author and co-author of chapters in international books on emergency medicine and ultrasound and has published 150 indexed articles in peer-reviewed international journals, with more than 13,500 citations and an h-index of 49.
